CARMELITE LENTEN RETREAT
February 8-10, 2008

Team Leaders - Sister M. Gabriela & Sister M. Agnes

Ten young women from our Discernment Group participated in this weekend retreat.

Friday evening’s workshop led by Sister M. Agnes, explored the Lenten themes of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Discussion surrounded the need for a “lenten plan” so that each person could determine what she needed to give or to give up during Lent.

Saturday morning after breakfast, we prepared lunch which we were to serve that afternoon to the Sisters participating in the annual retreat for the women religious of the Archdiocese at the Catholic Pastoral Centre. After prayers and the Eucharistic celebration led by Father Austin, we served lunch and participated in an afternoon of reflection with the Sisters.

Sister Jane McDonell presented “Entering the Mystery”, which addressed such Lenten themes as Release - letting go or fasting, Receive - prayer, and Relating - sharing or almsgiving.

Later we returned to the convent for supper and evening prayer after which we had our holy hour and adoration. The late evening optional video was about Therese of Lisieux.

Sunday morning after morning prayer and breakfast, Sister M. Gabriela led the regular “sharing workshop.” After a brief scripture reflection, each person shared blessings with the group. Father Mike Traher celebrated the Eucharist at eleven, and then stayed for lunch. Things were pretty lively given the ten different nationalities around the table, the friendships that had sprung up among us, as well as the good food.

We are grateful to God for all the blessings bestowed on us during this retreat.
