During this time the sister has vowed to God to live a life of Chastity, Poverty, and Obedience. She will continue to learn what she has begun during the noviciate “in order to place the contemplative spirit of Carmel, in the active service of the direct apostolate”.

The purpose of Temporary Vows is to strengthen the fidelity of the young sister, to provide the requisites for her to mature and better integrate her life in the charism of Carmel D.C.J., increase her knowledge of God, and herself, and to deepen her sense of consecration.

Through ongoing study she will continue her religious ongoing formation. On an individual basis, and the needs of the apostolate, she may commence her education to be able to work competently in the apostolate of the community. According to her skills and natural inclination, she will always keep in mind that priority is to be given to one’s spiritual formation. Becoming totally grounded in the Lord, and the Church, the Junior Sister will be motivated to be a daughter of the Church, totally dedicated to God, and His People.

After her first profession of vows, the Junior sister renews her vows annually for five years. During this time of formation, the sister’s main focus is prayer, education, apostolate, and community life. She will deepen her religious life, and prepare for her totally commitment to God. NEXT Back
