St. Joseph's Home of the Sacred Heart is in the Diocese of St. Catharines. In May 1914, the Sisters started an orphanage in Merritton - after a few years it was deemed logistically unsuitable for children. The Sisters left Merritton, and started a home for the aged in St. Catharines, Ontario. The First Mass was offered on September 14, 1920. Since then, the home has been rebuilt and enlarged to house 50 plus residents.
